The Sims 4: Patch Notes

Sul Sul fellow Simmers. We have a new The Sims 4 patch update from EA that addresses the major issues some of us were having with Ailments and the Balance system with the new expansion pack, "Enchanted By Nature". 

For context (in case you aren't aware of what I'm referring to), Simmers like me experienced this bug, glitch, or just bad development issue where Ailments during gameplay happened way too frequently, and quality of life went down the toilet.

In my gameplay, ANY Sim I played with contracted an Ailment at least once, and some of the Sims contracted them several times. It was to the point that I felt like all I was doing in my gameplay was trying to avoid Ailments, figuring out how to cure Ailments, and trying to track down Fairies.

To say the least, that is not the type of gameplay I want to experience in The Sims 4. But, thankfully, our pleas have been heard! Our tears have been wiped away! And we have a new The Sims 4 patch update! 

Enchanted by Nature - Ailments

• The frequency of how often your Sim gets Ailments has been reduced by up to 75%
• Improvements to the causes of Ailments (Contagions and Imbalance) to help balance the frequency of Ailments
• Reduced how contagious Ailments work (Sims will contract Ailments every 3 days on average, compared to the previous 1 day on average)
• Adjusted the extremes of Balance to allow for extreme emotions to still have an impact (but less of an impact) on the frequency of Ailments
• If your Sim lives in a big household or plays as a Naturopath, Ailments will happen about 40%-50% less often now
• Ailments are less contagious between household Sims and public toilets now

Enchanted by Nature - Fairy Wings

The issue with Fairy wings not showing up at certain times during certain animations has been addressed. Simmers are not experiencing glitches in games when Fairy wings aren't present during certain animations because not all animations were coded to include Fairy wings.

According to the Sims Team, they included over 360 positions and interactions surrounding Fairy wings, but chose not to include all positions and interactions. Some of the examples given for activities where Fairy wings should not be present (by design) include lying down, riding a horse, and sitting.

The main reason these activities were excluded was the concern over clipping and animation disruptions.

Console Connectivity Issues

The Sims 4 Team investigated some reports that console players submitted about not being able to access The Sims 4 Gallery. Some console players also reported not being able to claim rewards or participate in the current Nature Event.

If you play on console and get the "Online Connection is Required" prompt (or you only see the Library on the Main Menu), this is probably the bug you are experiencing. They are aware of the bug (User Agreement pop-up issue), but they don't currently have a fix.

The Sims 4 Team did provide a workaround, though. The instructions to get a connection back to The Sims 4 Gallery and to participate in the Nature's Calling Event are listed below:

1. Start your game
2. Go to "Game Options"
3. Select "Other"
4. Select the "Link EA Account" button (updated User Agreement should appear)
5. Accept the updated User Agreement
6. Select "Confirm" and restart your game
7. The issue should be resolved, unless your game has another underlying issue

Other Bug Fixes

Here is a list of other bug fixes and notes the Sims 4 Team shared.

Enchanted by Nature

• The Balance system is more balanced
• The Naturopath career now gets a day off for holidays if you have the Seasons expansion pack
• "Sponge Bath in Bathroom" (The Mossveil Fairy Hub) and "Bathe in Water" (ponds) now clean Sims (with the Natural Living Skill) who have been singed by a fire

Base Game

• During a limited-time event (such as the Nature's Calling Event), Sims will now remain at work or school when other household members travel or join a career.

Werewolves

• The color options for werewolf noses should now be present in Create a Sim (CAS)

Multiple Packs

• Get to Work, Aliens, and Sims wearing outfits from DLC packs no longer have the pitch-black appearance or invisible bodies when played in a game that doesn't have those packs.
